At the Cottage Part II

We spent the last weekend at the cottage. Winter is slowly arriving, but spending time at the cottage still is nice. Swimming is of course out of the question but fresh cool air and a hot sauna does it just as well.

At the cottage life is slow.

Auction Finds

I have to admit that we are almost addicted to internet auctions. Never the less auctions are a good place to find classic design with reasonable prices. All objects in the picture below are from the finnish equivalent to ebay called huuto.net. Alvar Aalto chairs number 46 are from mid-seventies and the lamp by Mauri Almari is propably from the sixties. The lamp is my personal favourite. We actually have two of these. The other one is white.

Fireplace

Best thing about autumn is that it’s a good reason to start using the fireplace. There is nothing as cosy as the warmth of real fire.

Iittala August lanterns found their place on top of the fireplace.

My partner is always complaining about ugly extension cables. I wonder whether this would please his critical eyes?

An old “Pehtoori” coffee/water pot from the 50’s - I love the sound of boiling water in the mornings. Even more when I can hear it from my bed and know that the coffee will be ready by the time I get to the kitchen.

It’s getting cold outside. Our fireplace has been used a lot already and it works! The old Tapiovaara stool should be glued, it’s a bit embarrassing to tell people that they should not sit on it because it may break…”Why do you have it then?” they might ask…Well, simply because it is beautiful.

We still have white walls in kids’ rooms. I wonder whether our girls would like these? I certainly love these wall stickers from ferm living.
